ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a dynamic and engaging researcher to lead research that will break new ground combining hydrodynamic (oceanographic biophysical) dispersal model parameterisation with empirical data on reproductive and larval biology and dispersal (especially population genetic data) to yield improved understandings of how oceanographic circulation and biological attributes shape connectivity between reefs.
Working with senior leaders within the College and across the Academy, you will help grow the research profile of the College and play an active role in shaping the future of our teaching and research programs.

As an AIMS@̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be an active member of the AIMS Oceanography and Coastal Processes and ̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Geomorphology research teams. Your work will focus on understanding physical coastal processes and quantifying their influence on coastal changes in northern Australia. As part of these teams, you will work to enhance current knowledge of the drivers and sensitivity of coastlines to climate change and will identify priority coastal areas for protection based on values (potentially including ecological, environmental, and economic) and coastal dynamic assumptions.
Under the supervision of senior scientists, it is expected that you will design, conduct and deliver a high-quality program of research that contributes to the missions of both institutions and makes important and original contributions to knowledge in the tropical marine domain. Taking a lead role in managing relationships and communications with project collaborators, you will undertake substantive end-user engagement during your research to ensure that research outcomes meet high level management and policy objectives.

As an AIMS@̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Postdoctoral Fellow, you will lead and contribute to the integrative research to understand reef responses to environmental change with a focus on ocean heating. With a primary focus of linking environmental change to processes across scales of biological organisation spanning physiology, genetics, demography, ecology, evolution, connectivity and/or biogeography, this research programme is open to approach and taxon. You will collaborate widely to ensure that your research yields results to better predict reef futures.
Taking a lead in your research, you will design and deliver high impact research to understand reef responses to environmental change whilst working closely with AIMS and ̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û teams to achieve long term research projects. Your research might include aquarium-based and field experiments and you might also lead empirical research involving geonomics, physiology and measurements of fitness. You will be mentored to take a leading role in communicating your research outcomes, project reporting and financial management to further develop your professional skills.
